The New Harlem Renaissance...Savoring Harlem.

I just finished watching the Food Network special, Savoring Harlem.  World renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson, a Harlem restaurant owner, showcased Harlem's culturally diverse, ethnic restaurants.

As a native New Yorker, with roots in Harlem, I was ecstatic to see that the true essence of Harlem has not been totally lost.  With so many of these hidden gems in Harlem, it is about time that they have been featured like mainstream restaurants in mid-town and lower Manhattan.  Harlem has a rich history and due to gentrification, some of that history has been lost literally and figuratively.

To show my support, I will make sure that I, as well as my family and friends will patronize those restaurant featured on the show and others that were not.  Below are links to of some of those restaurants featured on Savoring Harlem.  Bon Appetite!!

Does Your Real Life Match Your Facebook Life?

I often wonder how much time people spend on FB.  I have been guilty of putting personal updates on my FB status.  I no longer do that.  My purpose  for FB has changed over the years.  FB can consume you, change who you are.  There is a thin line between reality and fantasy when it comes to FB.   You can create the picture perfect life, be the life of the party, or be a prophet of sorts.  But does it depict who you really are?  Hmmmmm...sometimes.

This Essence Article is very interesting and asks the question I often ask myself...Real Talk: Does Your Real Life Match Your Facebook Life?
